1 INTRODUCTION
Inter School and Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship of Barbados (IS/IVCF) is a Fellowship of evangelical Christians committed to presenting the claims of Jesus Christ to students at educational institutions in Barbados.
The Fellowship is a member of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (I.F.E.S.) IFES is a global community of indigenous student movements, called to engage the university with the good news of Jesus Christ. Currently there are more than 500,000 students involved in 194 national movements worldwide.
History
IS/IVCF was introduced into Barbados by Richard Belle who was based in Jamaica in 1960.
Aims and Objectives of IS/IVCF
The goals of IS/IVCF are:
i. To witness to the Lord Jesus Christ as the Saviour of all men
and to endevour to lead students to a personal faith in Him
ii. To encourage Christian discipleship in the life of students
by challenging them to:
- and active participation in national, regional and world wide evangelism
Our programme is developed in keeping with these goals.
Motto
These objectives are summed up in our motto:

Formation of Groups
During the past years we sought to fulfil this mission by establishing and maintaining Groups at educational institutions. We have:
60 groups from the 70 primary schools
20 groups from the 22 secondary schools
4 groups from the 5 tertiary institutions
Annually this list is updated due to the dynamic academic environment this Minstry operates in. (A partial list is show under Member)
Sponsors
The Executive Board have been able through the help of Sponsors (Christian Teachers appointed by the Executive Board in collaboration with the schools Principal to be responsible for the Groups) to be able to maintain an active Group System.
Many of these teachers fully recognise the importance of this God given responsibility. (A partial list is show under Member)
Field Staff Worker(s)
Field Staff workers are employed by the Fellowship to assist in establishing and fostering the development of Groups at the School.
Secretarial Staff
The Fellowship employs a Secretary whose responsibility includes managing the Fellowships' Office on a day to day basis and assisting the Staff worker(s) in maintaining up-to-date records of our constantly changing student ministry.
Executive Board
Our Executive Board consist of 9 - 15 elected (and/or appointed) members including our Field Staff Worker(s) which meets each month.
Annual General Meeting
The AGM is held in September.
During this meeting they:
1. elect officers;
2. hear financial & other reports;
3. evaluation of the work in terms of achievement of goals and
4. the identify new strategies for the advancement of the work among other matters.
Plans
Below are our plans which we hope you will participate in, and help us in acheiveing our goals:
Short-term Plans
- Holding of consultative meeting to select person willing to assist at various levels in the Fellowship.
- Conducting of Student Leadership Training
- Updating or data base of Sponsors and Christian teachers
- Development of our data base of past IS/IVCF’ers who are willing to assist in prayer, financial supports and in providing human resources at various levels.
Medium term
- Staffing - as limited finance have prevented us from employing a Secretary, Staff workers and a General Secretary.
- Conducting of Student Leadership training on a more wide-spread basis
Long-term
- Establishing closer and stronger relationships with local church leaders and sharing on the ministry of IS/IVCF
- Locating a permanent office;
- location of a campsite, since 1960 we have been holding camps annual with few exceptions - we see the need for owning of a campsite to facilitate future training and discipleship of youth in a fun and adventurous environment.
Prayer - We require person who will join with us in prayer for the IS/IVCF - its Administrators, the Sponsors and Students
Newsletters - are available on request from our office. Which would contain our prayer request and is a good way of keeping in touch
Human Resources -by offering to serve at various levels– Board, subcommittee, staff, camp personnel,
Financial Support - The work of the Fellowship is finance by the generous giving of supports. The Fellowship urgently require additional financial supporters, who can, on a weekly or monthly basis, provide funds to ensure the continuation of this vital ministry.
Funds are need to pay office and field staff-workers who provide assistance and support to Christian teachers and students.
Audits
Our accounts are audited and financial reports present at the AGM.
Budget- Our annual estimated budget is $240,000.00, allocated as:
64% salaries to staff who provide the support services
to student & teachers
16% office administration
20% Direct Student Services
Over 60% of these funds will require new financial sources.

- Contributions can be made at Christian Literature Crusades (CLC) Constitution Rd. The City
